Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is fond of relating the story of the mistake he made in 1969 when he told the Chinese he does not need their votes. 3,000 Chinese swung to PAS, said Mahathir. And Yusuf Rawa won that seat while the Grand Old Man of Malaysian politics was sent into temporary retirement.

The SMS purportedly quoted Hishammuddin talking about Indian and Chinese voter support.

He should have clarified at that time that he did not make such statement, but it was others who "clarified" for him. It made others believe he made the statement. Again correct me if I am wrong.

I am sure the above has done more damages to BN then any other. The first score is Ali Rustams statement. Thanks to him. Pak Lah's fault here was, that he did not take action on him.
