An act of a loving wife, says Dr M
KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has termed Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail's resignation as Permatang Pauh MP as an act of a loving wife.
“Of course, of course, a loving wife could do nothing better,” he told a press conference yesterday.
“I'm quite sure that if my wife (Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali) were in the same position, she would step down and let me ‘run.’ I'll run faster than she does.”
The ever sarcastic and witty former prime minister added:
“Has he (PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) been training and running?” he quipped referring to Anwar's political readiness.
His comments came minutes after reporters who learned of Dr Wan Azizah's resignation via SMS, asked Dr Mahathir for his comments.
The press conference was originally held to express the Perdana Global Peace Organisation's disgust that Malaysia was hosting former British prime minister Tony Blair to speak on the rule of law and good governance at the 22nd Sultan Azlan Shah Law Lecture.
Dr Mahathir maintained his sarcasm when asked to comment on the proposed merger between PAS and Umno saying:
“We know that cross-breeding is a difficult science. It's like between a cat and ? shall we say, goat?”
Dr Mahathir added that he was eager to see how PAS would give up its hudud laws to accommodate the mainstream party practice and vice versa.

seals: The 2 man who is capable to run the country now is Dr M and DS Anwar. It will be good if Dr M can return to power and I want to watch all the cabinet ministers behaviour and act.
The next capable man is the current CM of Penang ...
