Pilot killed in helicopter crash... AT 8.30PM
1.50pm: Sibu - A helicopter believed to be carrying members of the deputy prime minister's entourage has tipped and landed on its side just as it was attempting takeoff on a field near Wisma Sanyan.
The convoy of helicopters were said to have about to be flying back out after ferrying DPM Muhyiddin Yassin from Bintangor to Sibu, when one of them landed back onto the ground and fell on its side.
It is understood the accident happen at 1.45pm. Muhyiddin is reportedly uninjured. The pilot has sustained injuries and has been taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.
"The helicopter wanted to fly back to the airport for parking, (but) then fell from about 10 feet aboveground."
Before the incident, there were three helicopter bringing the DPM's entourage back from Bintangor to Sibu. Two of them are belonged to Hornbill skyways. The helicopter that crashed belongs to Sabah Air.
