No-show by prosecution in Kugan's death

According to Manoharan, it is quite a mystery as to why only one police officer is to be charged, instead of 11 cops who were allegedly involved in Kugan's death.

"I bet that one person will be made a scapegoat and the rest are going to escape. There is not going to be any justice in this case," he said.

He also expressed regret to learn that Kugan's mother N Indra can no longer witness justice for her son as she cannot take any more leave from her job as a housekeeper.

"She was apparently threatened by her employer who said that she would lose her job if she takes more leave to attend to Kugan's case," he said.

Tun Majid Tun Hamzah, the head of prosecution in the attorney-general's chambers, said “nothing has been confirmed” at this point.

He denied rumours that the police officer would be charged later today.
