Cops probing Guan Eng ‘assassination plot’

GEORGE TOWN: Police are investigating the report lodged by a Gerakan Youth wing to see if Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s safety is being threatened.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Azam Abd Hamid said they would be recording statements from reporters who reported the news, and other parties.

It is believed that police would also be recording statements from Lim regarding the allegation.

The Gerakan Youth wing on Monday lodged a police report over the safety of Lim following reports in Chinese dailies about an alleged plot to assassinate him.

Four Chinese dailies reported earlier that rumours were spreading like wildfire that “someone is out to finish off Lim.”

It is learnt that the police have called up reporters from one of the four Chinese newspapers Tuesday to help in its investigation.

ACP Azam said police had yet to receive any documentation or SMSes on the rumoured assassination.

“We are currently investigating the case under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation,” he said.

Seals: This is what i call human value. Even though he is from Gerakan, he still make a police report for the man from DAP because of the human value that he has. I salute him.
This the police should be fast in giving protection to Guan Eng first then starting an investigation.
