Samy Vellu says state government to blame for temple demolition

KUALA LUMPUR: MIC president Datuk Seri S.Samy Vellu wants the Selangor government to openly apologise for the demolition of the Hindu temple in Ampang.

He said the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) was under the jurisdiction of the state government and therefore it should be responsible for the demolition.

“We want the state government to give the assurance that it will not demolish any more temples,” Samy Vellu said.

The Malaysia Hindu Sangam (MHS) has also called on state executive councillor Xavier Jeyakumar to be careful when making press statements.

Its president Datuk A. Vaithilingam said Jeyakumar had described the Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple in Kampung Baru Taman Tasek, Ampang Jaya as a shrine.

“Jeyakumar then went on to say that the breaking of temples was a ‘small’ issue compared to the bigger issues Indians faced, not realising that for Indians, the breaking of a place of worship is definitely a serious issue,” said Vaithilingam.

Selangor Wanita MCA chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun condemned the PKR-led Selangor government saying the party’s promise to protect houses of worship was merely a ploy to fish for votes.

“The Indian voters supported Pakatan Rakyat during the General Elections because they did not expect such treatment.”

MCA Youth secretary-general Dr Wee Ka Siong also expressed disappointment over the demolition and questioned PKR’s promise in their election manifesto.

Dr Wee urged the Selangor government especially the state’s three-men committee overseeing the matters concerning non-Muslims comprising Selangor exco members Ronnie Liu, Teresa Kok and Jayakumar to give a satisfactory reply to the demolition of the temple.

On Monday, Liu said MPAJ deputy president Hamid Hussain had been suspended pending investigations on whether he (Hamid) ordered the demolition of the temple.

seals: Did ever BN government apologise for the open and instructed temple breaking? Datuk Samy, please ask then do do so first.

This breaking was done not by state government but by the "ENEMY WITHIN" who could be working for another.

If the state government is to be blamed for every ones action then the PM should have resigned long ago for the for the statement of many UMNO fellows and Ministers and even the members of the government.

And you should have resigned for not making the same statement when BN was going around breaking the temples and for letting the Indians down so low that thy had to resort to have a rally and you should be responsible for the arrest for the HINDRAF 5, can you?
