Publishing a Comment in my Blog

I am an American Sikh who studied with Yogi Bhajan for 30 years. I want to introduce you to a free e-book “ Sikhism and Tantric Yoga”; a rare and out of print book by a Sikh scholar and historian which takes a critical look at Yogi Bhajan's kundalini and tatric yoga systems. I discovered this book during my two years in India .“Sikhism and Tantric Yoga” has been a real eye-opener for me and makes complete sense when I think about the last thirty years of my life with Yogi Bhajan . Written by the esteemed Dr. Trilochan Singh , author of over twenty books on Sikh history and philosophy and lecturer at sixteen Universities, “Sikhism and Tantric Yoga”, describes the Sikh mystical path and is critical of Yogi Bhajan's Tantra and Kundalini Yoga. I have included here a sample of one chapter and the entire book can be downloaded for free at: Gurmukhyoga.com What I learned in India about the Sikh Mystic Path By Guru's grace, while being det...

Om Kriya Babaji Nama AUM In Search of Babaji WIE Tracks Down the Elusive Yogi-Christ of the Himalayas by Carter Phipps ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Babaji has been chosen by God to remain in his body for the duration of this particular world cycle. Ages will come and go—still the deathless master, beholding the drama of the centuries, shall be present on this stage terrestrial." So began the legend of the immortal sage Babaji. These words were published in 1946, in the classic spiritual tale Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda—a book that was destined to have a major impact on the then just emerging East-West spiritual dialogue. It was a book that introduced thousands, if not millions, of aspiring seekers in the Western world to a man who, legend tells us, is perhaps the greatest of ancient saints, an immortal deathless yogi of India watching over this earthly plane like a benevolent ...

Saudi women use 'breastfeed the driver' fatwa in driving bid

"Do the women have to breastfeed the driver in the presence of their husbands or can they do this alone?" "Who will protect the wife if the husband entered the house unexpectedly and found his wife breastfeeding the driver?" she asked. Saudi women plan to turn a controversial fatwa (religious ruling) to their advantage and launch a campaign to achieve their long-standing demand to drive in this conservative kingdom. If the demand is not met, the women threatened to follow through the fatwa which allows them to breastfeed their drivers and turn them into their sons. The campaign will be launched under the slogan: "We either be allowed to drive or breastfeed foreigners," a journalist told Gulf News . Amal Zahid said that their decision follows a fatwa issued by a renowned scholar which said that Saudi women can breastfeed their foreign drivers for them to become their sons. "As every Saudi family needs a driver, our campaign...

Pudu jail demolition gets negative public response

Image
When the clock strikes 10pm tomorrow, the 394-metre stretch of Pudu Jail wall fronting Jalan Pudu will be demolished after having served its purpose for the past 100 years. Construction on the 4.5 metre wall, also known as Pudu Goal, started in 1891 on Jalan Hang Tuah and it was fully completed in 1895 at a cost of RM15,360.90. The wall which had once set a record for the longest mural in the world (384 metres) now has no meaning as it stands amidst flourishing development in the Bukit Bintang Golden Triangle. The prison itself stopped operating in 1996 and prisoners were shifted to the Sungai Buloh Prison, 36km from here, after the building could no longer cater to the high volume of up to 6,550 people at a time since 1985. The memories linked to the historic landmark will remain part of the country's history even after the wall is torn down, a move proposed by Kuala Lumpur mayor Ahmad Fuad Ismail, which aimed to ease traffic congestion in the area through a road-wi...

Jui Meng stripped of Johor datuk-ship

Md Imraz Muhammed Ikhbal: What is a 'datukship'? Wasn't it supposed to be an honorific title conferred by the esteemed monarch to those deserving for their noble deeds to the country? Wasn't that the reason why datukships were so sought after as a trophy of pride and honour? Now let's re-examine and re-evaluate this entire concept and compare it to what we have currently. Today, we witness how the rulers reduced themselves to being no more than a political stooge of the ruling elites. Today, we witness defecting MPs who betray their voters being conferred datukship while those like Chua Jui Meng, who struggle for the cause of the rakyat, being stripped off it. Rulers who were once objects of reverence are today the subject of ridicule. The palace is today perceived not as a monumental pride but a laden burden to the public. So is there honour still in titles from the royals? Isn't datukship from the palace today a degradation to one's dignified...
