Fatwa On Yoga Out Soon PENANG, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- The National Fatwa Council will come out with a ruling relating to yoga exercise soon. The announcement would be made by the council's chairman, Prof Datuk Dr Abdul Shukor Husin, said Deputy Director-General (Operations) of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) Othman Mustapha. He told reporters this after opening the two-day seminar on Islamic Jurisprudence and Eternal Islamic Thinking at Universiti Sains Malaysia jointly organised by the Islamic Studies Division of the university's Human Knowledge Study Centre and Jakim here today. Signboards Under Jurisdiction Of State Government KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- Languages used on signboards is under the jurisdiction of the state government and not the unity, culture, arts and heritage ministry, the Dewan Rakyat was told today. Deputy Minister Teng Boon Soon said the ministry was not responsible for enforcing any language used at local authority or state government levels. AirAsia gets nod to fly to India By ROYCE CHEAH KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia has finally conquered its “last frontier” with the Indian Government giving the low-cost carrier approval to fly to India. AirAsia chief executive officer Datuk Tony Fernandes said the airline would start selling tickets to Tiruchi in Tamil Nadu at midnight on Wednesday with the first flight to take off on Dec 1 at 7.40am. “It will be a daily flight and we are looking at even adding a second flight now as the initial response has been tremendous,” he told reporters Monday during a press conference here. Special promotional prices for the flight will cost RM49 one-way while the normal ticket price will cost about RM200 one-way. Karpal suspended from Dewan Rakyat for 2 days Husna Yusop and Giam Say Khoon KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 23, 2008) : Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh was suspended from the Dewan Rakyat for two days for uttering the words "kurang ajar" – an unparliamentary word - to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz today. Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia made the decision after Karpal accused him of not being serious and "main-main" (fooling around) in carrying out his duties. "I am suspending Bukit Gelugor because he has used the word kurang ajar. I am showing you that I am serious. I am not abusing my power. I am just exercising my power," he said while instructing the sergeant-at-arms to accompany the wheelchair-bound Karpal out of the House. BREAKING NEWS: Waythamoorthy's wife, daughter and 10 other Hindraf supporters detained Charles Ramendran PUTRAJAYA (Oct 23, 2008) : The wife, six-year-old daughter and 10 supporters of Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leader P.Waythamoorthy who is in self exile in Britain, were detained by police when they tried to handover a memorandum at the Prime Minister's department in Putrajaya today. The 12 supporters of the group which was recently outlawed by the government had gone to the PM's office at about 3.30pm to handover a memorandum seeking the release of all Internal Security Act (ISA) detainees. Kuala Lumpur police chief DCP Datuk Mohammad Sabtu Osman said eight men, three women and a child were detained for representing or acting for an oulawed organisation or group under Section 48 of the Societies Act.
