Missing Malaysian trekker found dead in India

NEW DELHI: A Malaysian trekker on a spiritual visit, who went missing in the northern Indian mountains more than a month ago, was found dead by an Indian rescue team.

Vicknesvaren Murugesu's body was found Saturday night in the hilly Topavan area, about 25 km from his resthouse in Gangotri, a popular spiritual site in Uttarkashi, in the northern state of Uttranchal.

The 33-year-old Vicknesvaren, an engineer by profession, arrived in Gangotri on Sept 18 and trekked to Topavan with a local porter.

He was scheduled to have returned to his resthouse about two weeks later but failed to show up.

He is believed to have died of severe head injuries. - Bernama

Seals: I have tracked on this path and the track is ok specially with a guide. It is not said exactly which part of the track. If it is said return in 2 weeks, he could have gone beyond tapovan on to the track to Badrinath?

What ever it is may Lord Shiva bless his soul, to be born there again to complete his wishes....

for sure not either (he was my friends classmate) at times some are gifted to die there, i really mean it GIFTED TO DIE THERE, for some they climb too fast that they become too weak because of thin air and unable to reach the resting points or they are too new to the Himalayas and his judge The Father(Himalayas). The distance can be near but walk is tough. But I will say he was GIFTED to get the blessing.

Did he go alone or with a guide?
Those knowledgeable please throw more light into the matter. I have interest to trek himalayas too. Mike/KL.

He was with a guide, nothing special to track in Himalayas. Fitness, altitude sickness and know where you are going is key. I have been on the track that he was going.

Why no detail was released about how he died. Was not the guide able to throw some light.

I am glad to know that you have trekked the himalayas. Have documented your experiences for others to read? If you have not done it can you share your experiences in your blog?.....Mike/KL
