Kelantan BN reps stage walk out

KOTA BARU: All six Kelantan Barisan Nasional representatives staged a walkout from the state assembly Monday after Speaker Mohd Nassuruddin Daud disallowed them from asking verbal questions.

Before the assembly, Datuk Alwi Che Ahmad (BN-Kok Lanas) gave an indication of things to come when he asked why 10 of the Opposition's 15 verbal questions were not allowed.

The Speaker replied that the questions were not relevant and that they had had been answered on previous occasions.

An argument ensued with Alwi insisting that the questions had to be answered as they involved the interests of the people.

The spat between the Speaker and Alwi lasted for some 10 minutes, after which he and the five other BN representatives - Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar (BN - Pengkalan Kubor), Ab. Aziz Derashid (BN - Kuala Balah), Datuk Nozula Mat Diah (BN - Paloh), Mohd Adhan Kechik (BN - Bukit Bunga) and Mat Yusof Abd Ghani (BN - Nenggiri walked out of the assembly.

Outside the assembly, Alwi accused the state government of being "arrogant".
